A useful and quick Online Baccarat guide.
This Online Baccarat Guide will give you the information you need to win. Playing baccarat at online casinos is very simple, fast, and suited to high rollers. Nice high table limits. Bacarrat rules are straight forward so you can play with complete confidence as well. Just remember, you are betting against the cards and NOT against the house (banker) or the other players.
The baccarat game
Baccarat is played with 8 decks sans the joker cards. In the interests of fairness, the decks are shuffled and the top card is drawn from the shoe. The value of this card determines how many cards will be removed from the deck before the game commences (e.g. a 3 is drawn so a further 3 cards are discarded). Each player gets a turn to be the dealer but retains the shoe if the bank wins. Upon losing, the shoe rotates anti clockwise from player to player. Bets are placed before the cards are dealt.
The baccarat rules
Each player is dealt 2 cards. The hand closest to the value of Nine (9) is the winner. If a dealt hand totals eight (8) or nine (9) then the hands is called a natural and wins automatically (unless there are other naturals of equal (draw) or better (lose)). If there are no naturals, one (1) additional card is dealt to each player to determine who the winner is.
Baccarat Card Values
- Face cards count 10
- Aces count 1
- Number cards keep their exact face value
How to score a baccarat game
How do you score nine (9) when so many card variations equal more than nine (9)? Simple. You work with the lone digit if its a total less than ten (10) or you work with the single (right hand) digit if the total exceeds ten (10). Still confused? Here are some examples to assist:
seven (7) and a two (2) | 9 | Natural |
king (10) and a eight (8) | 18 = 8 | Natural |
two (2) ace (1) and six (6) | 8 | Not natural |
ten (10) five (5) and six (6) | 21 = 1 | Not natural |
three (3) four (4) and two (2) | 9 | Not natural |
Baccarat Odds and payouts
Winning bets on the player’s hand are paid at 1:1 odds. A 5% commission is charged on winnings as a result of a bet on the banker, making the net odds on banker bets 0.95 to 1. A winning wager on a tie bet is paid at 8:1 odds. If the game does result in a tie, bets on the banker or player are returned. The casinos odds are surprisingly low with this game. A bet on the player yields a house edge of 1.35% and a bet on the banker (even with the 5%) yields a house edge of 1.17%.
